Experience and Case Studies
Reducing Backlogs and Improving Mental Health Pathways
Context: A council’s adult social care team was facing a significant backlog of overdue mental health care package reviews, affecting both quality and cost.
What Was Delivered: Our lead consultant (independent engagement) developed and led a focused Mental Health Review Team to assess care packages, identify inefficiencies, and streamline delivery.
Outcome: The project reduced the review backlog, uncovered targeted cost savings, and strengthened the pathway for residents with complex needs.
Reimagining Youth Services with Young People at the Centre
Context: A local authority needed to assess whether its youth service was effectively reaching and supporting the young people who needed it most.
What Was Delivered: Our lead consultant (independent engagement) led a borough-wide review, engaging directly with young people to understand their needs and experiences. This insight informed the redesign of the service into a locality-based model, supported by five new delivery strands.
Outcome: Services became more accessible, youth participation increased, and young people were embedded in key areas like commissioning, recruitment, and quality assurance.
Preparing a Adult Health & Social Care Directorate for CQC Assessment
Context: With new CQC assurance requirements on the horizon, a local authority needed to evaluate its readiness and improve internal assurance processes.
What Was Delivered: Our lead consultant (independent engagement) led the design and implementation of a cross-cutting improvement plan, supported by detailed analysis of performance data and close collaboration with system partners.
Outcome: The directorate improved its self-assessment capacity, developed stronger performance oversight, and enhanced strategic readiness for regulatory review.
Improving Learning Disability Services Through Strategic Review
Context: A local authority commissioned a strategic review of its support for adults with learning disabilities, aiming to improve outcomes and ensure services were fit for purpose.
Approach: Our lead consultant (independent engagement) project managed the self-evaluation alongside specialist partners, engaging internal teams and stakeholders to identify key areas for improvement. Oversaw the delivery of targeted actions focused on outcomes, independence, and service quality.
Outcome: The work led to the implementation of three core improvements aligned with national best practice, helping the council strengthen its approach to person-centred support and long-term planning for people with complex needs.
NB: Some case studies feature independent projects completed prior to TWP being established, shown alongside more recent work.
